Cleveland Browns quarterback Derek Anderson returned to practice on Tuesday. Anderson, who had been out since he left a game against the New York Giants on August 18 with a concussion, made a brief appearance on the field. "It was good for him to be back. Everybody in the Giants organization wanted Michael Strahan back. Everybody, including the guy he would have helped replace. "It would have been cool to see him play, (but) I guess he couldn't do it without me," a laughing Osi Umenyiora told The Star-Ledger by phone yesterday, minutes after he learned Strahan had told the Giants he will remain retired. Buffalo BillsTrent Edwards: Close to being 100 percent

It took a little while to get it warm, but once Trent Edwards got his injured thigh moving he was able to roll out on his right leg and drive off of it when throwing as he practiced with his teammates for the first time in a week. “It feels good,” said Edwards after practice. “Once it starts getting warmed up and the blood gets flowing through there I feel back to close to being 100 percent, which is obviously what I want to get to, and the sooner I can get there the better.” Source: buffalobills.com

Cleveland BrownsBrowns place Jurevicius on Reserve/PUP

Jurevicius has had at least four surgical procedures on his right knee, including three for a staph infection. He will spend the first six weeks of the regular season on the Reserve/PUP list. The Panthers have signed veteran WR Samie Parker, who was released by Denver on Monday. Parker, 27, adds speed and experience to a wide receiver position that has been thinned by injuries and Steve Smith's suspension for the first two games. On the day when the Giants roster needs to be pared to 75 players on the active list, the Giants placed WR David Tyree on PUP/reserve, meaning he is now sidelined until Week 6. The Giants will have a three-week window to active him. The Giants also waived S Terrance Stringer off IR. In addition to waiving WR Michael Jennings, WR D.J.
