Schaub out with a dislocated left shoulder

For the first time this season, Matt Schaub is out with a left shoulder injury. The Texans said his return is questionable.
Schaub was sacked for a 1-yard loss on the first play by end Derrick Harvey. He came down on his shoulder and left the game. Rex Grossman replaced him and was intercepted by Anthony Smith, who returned it 30 yards to the Houston 18.
Schaub has been taken to the dressing room.

Update: Schaub returns to the game Matt Schaub has just returned with the Texans losing 17-0. He completed his first pass to Andre Johnson, who was brought down by a horse collar tackle, giving the Texans a first down.

Schaub is confident he'll be able to play opener

Texans coach Gary Kubiak said today that quarterback Matt Schaub, receiver Kevin Walter and free safety Eugene Wilson will be “day to day” for the New York Jets regular-season opener because of injuries suffered in Monday's 17-10 loss to Minnesota. Schaub suffered a sprained ankle and was wearing a protective boot after the game. Kubiak said Schaub is confident he'll be able to play against the Jets.

Matt Schaub back on the right track

Quarterback Matt Schaub got off to a great start in 2009, going a perfect 7-of-7 for 70 yards in one quarter of action. He sprayed the ball all over the field, completing passes to six different receivers. "We've got a lot of weapons," Schaub said. "We've got guys we can distribute the ball to, and they can all make plays, so it's my job to get it to the most open guy and let him go make a play with it. The offensive line did a great job giving me time, and you can see we were able to run the ball effectively, especially down in the red zone."

Texans QB healthy, eager to work

Quarterback Matt Schaub jogged on the field free of the knee brace he wore the final month of last season. The shoulder surgery he underwent last offseason was a distant memory as he participated in the first day of Texans organized team activities Monday. For the past three months, Schaub, 27, has avoided the training room and enjoyed a “normal” offseason.
