Jones-Drew wants Steve Jackson contract 4/8/2009 9:12:00 AM
"Set to enter the final year of his rookie contract, Jags star RB Maurice Jones-Drew is seeking a new deal worth as much as $8 million per year (and approximately $20 million guaranteed), similar to the six-year, $49.3 million contract ($29.3 million in the first four years) signed last year by St. Louis running back Steven Jackson. Jones-Drew has said Bakari is using Jackson's deal as a baseline for mapping out an extension. The club offered Jones-Drew an extension in February, but the sides - who appear to be close to agreeing to approximately $20 million guaranteed - are far apart on the value of the total package. It's unclear whether Jones-Drew's contract situation had anything to do with his absence Monday."
