Marshall was in the early part of Wednesday’s OTA, running routes in quarterback-and-receiver drills, actively participating in a practice for the first time since being traded to the Dolphins on April 14. More importantly, it was his first practice since having surgery on his right hip just after the trade.

Head coach Tony Sparano announced after Wednesday’s organized team activity that Marshall, a two-time Pro Bowler acquired for two second-round draft picks last month, is rehabbing from an undisclosed surgery and may not be ready to play when training camp opens in late July.

Marshall has been traded to the Miami Dolphins for a second-round pick that the Broncos will use next Friday in the NFL Draft. And the Broncos will also receive another second draft pick in 2011.

Brandon Marshall suspended over conduct 8/28/2009 8:38:00 AM
The Broncos have suspended Marshall for conduct detrimental to the team. Marshall's apology Thursday night on ESPN was too late. The punishment stems from Marshall's shameful display of unprofessionalism during practice Wednesday. Here's the video, judge for yourself.

Broncos wide receiver Brandon Marshall today admitted he is very behind in learning the offense and that he remains unhappy with team management. Marshall denied asking the team for more money but said it is possible his relationship with the team could reach a breaking point.

Although he's not officially on the trading block, the biggest name on the Jets' radar is the Broncos' Brandon Marshall, who has issued a pay me-or-trade me demand. The Broncos reportedly have no interest in trading Marshall, 25, one of the top young receivers in the league, but they also said the same thing about quarterback Jay Cutler - and now he's playing for the Bears.

Brandon Marshall may be recovered from hip and hamstring injuries that kept him out of much of the first two weeks of training camp, but the Broncos' star receiver is finding that he's not going to just resume his place as the team's top receiver. Marshall was relegated to the second team for much of Tuesday's practice. Even worse, he was asked to practice as a gunner of the scout team on punt coverage. Defensive teammates on the sideline playfully heckled Marshall as he engaged in physical blocking drills with cornerback Joshua Bell. It's not exactly the treatment a Pro Bowl receiver is used to.

Two NFL sources said Kennard McGuire (Marshall's agent) sought out Broncos management to get a feel for their position on giving Marshall a contract extension. The Broncos told McGuire they were not willing to rework his deal, which has one year and $2.2 million remaining. Marshall then reiterated his trade request that he gave in June. The Broncos again told Marshall on Monday that they would not trade him.
