Stewart confident he'll be ready for season
6/20/2009 10:55:00 AM

Running back Jonathan Stewart said a sore left Achilles is what caused him to miss all of the Carolina Panthers OTAs, but that he should be ready to practice when training camp arrives in early August. The injury was apparently related to Stewart overcompensating for a toe problem that slowed him down last off-season. "It just kind of flared up," he said. "I'm pretty much staying off of it to just kind of let it heal."  Source: shelbystar.com

Panthers RB Stewart sheds protective boot
5/28/2008 2:34:00 PM

Panthers rookie running back Jonathan Stewart won't participate, and not just because of a toe injury that forced him to miss minicamp this month. School at Oregon, which uses the quarter system, is still in session, and NFL rules don't allow players to participate in OTAs until classes have ended. Hurney said Stewart, the team's top draft pick, is out of the protective boot and is expected to be ready by training camp.  Source: charlotte.com

Fox: Stewart could return kickoffs
5/14/2008 7:57:00 PM

First-round pick Jonathan Stewart could be the Panthers' primary kickoff returner as well as their featured running back. Asked at the Charlotte Touchdown Club luncheon earlier today who would be the team's kickoff returner this season, Fox said: "Jonathan Stewart was one of the leaders in the country, as well as leading the Pac-10. He's the guy who'll start off with those duties when we go to (training) camp. Not only is he an outstanding running back, but that was one of the key factors but in our search for a kickoff returner -- that we were able to address that."  Source: charlotte.com
