Broncos sign QB Kyle Orton to a contract extension

The Broncos on Thursday made a move to the future, signing first-string quarterback Kyle Orton to a contract extension, the team said. Orton is in his sixth year in the NFL and second with the Broncos. Last season, he recorded career high stats with 3,802 yards passing.

Denver QB Kyle Orton out with ankle injury

Kyle Orton suffered an ankle injury on his final snap of the first half and is listed as doubtful to play in the second half.
Chris Simms, in his first possession of the season, led the Broncos to first downs, but his first possession ended in a short Mitch Berger punt.
Orton was running for a short gain inside the Redskins' 10-yard line when he was tackled by rookie Brian Orakpo. Orton came up limping.

Orton to start Broncos' opener

Barring a stitch problem in pregame warmups, Kyle Orton will be the Broncos' starting quarterback Sunday against the Cincinnati Bengals. Orton has been taking all the snaps from starting center Casey Wiegmann this week. He was the quarterback with the first-team offense today, as he was Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.

Orton says he'll play in Broncos' opener

A day after returning to practice for the first time since dislocating a knuckle on the index finger of his throwing hand on Aug. 30, quarterback Kyle Orton said he expects to play in Sunday's season opener at Cincinnati. Kyle Orton recovering from painful dislocation

NFL sources said that while Kyle Orton’s injured finger was not fractured, the Broncos quarterback suffered an open dislocation (meaning it penetrated the skin) of the right knuckle. In football time, a dislocation is not as serious as a fracture so while Orton will not play Thursday in the Broncos’ final preseason game against Arizona, he has not been ruled out for the regular-season opener, Sept. 13 at Cincinnati.

Orton struggles, throws three first-half picks

Quarterback Kyle Orton, making his debut as the starter for the Broncos, threw his third interception of the first half with 6 minutes remaining in the second quarter. Reports that Orton has struggled in Broncos training camp were backed up by a shaky performance against the 49ers. Orton finished 9/16 for 89 yards and 3 interceptions.

Orton named Broncos starting QB

Denver Broncos Head Coach Josh McDaniels just named Kyle Orton his starting qaurterback. Orton had been competing with Chris Simms for the job throughut the season. Orton, who was acquired from the Chicago Bears in April as part of the Jay Cutler trade, was named the starter with two days remaining in the Broncos' off-season minicamp training program.
