Chiefs quarterback Matt Cassel will start and Brandon Flowers will be active in today's game against Oakland. Cassel (knee) and Flowers (shoulder) each missed last week's regular-season opener against Baltimore.

Chiefs QB Matt Cassel game-time decision

Matt Cassel (knee) was again listed on the league’s injury report as not being a full participant in Friday’s practice. But Cassel said he had a sense he would be ready to go. “I feel like I’m leaps and bounds ahead of where I was last week at this time,” he said. That progress, Cassel said, is evident by the fact his workload in practice increased this week. Cassel is listed as questionable on the final injury report and will be a game-time decision.

Matt Cassel is the starting quarterback

About 30 minutes of today's practice was open to the media and though the Chiefs did no team drills during tha time, it still appeared Matt Cassel is the starting quarterback. Cassel was first in line for all of the QB drills during that time. That's a spot almost always reserved for the starter.  Source: kansascity.com

With the Chiefs and their forlorn offense badly in need of some good fortune, they received some with quarterback Matt Cassel’s return to the practice field. Chiefs QB Cassel could miss opener

Quarterback Matt Cassel could miss two to four weeks with a strained medial collateral ligament in his right knee, a source within the Kansas City Chiefs organization said. Cassel, who the Chiefs acquired in a trade with New England this offseason, was hurt Saturday night in an exhibition game against Seattle. The injury is not expected to require surgery because MCL injuries usually heal on their own.  Source: yahoo.com

Still no update on Chiefs QB Matt Cassel

Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Matt Cassel's injury to his left leg isn't believed to be serious, a league source told National Football Post following the initial diagnosis. More medical tests are expected to be conducted on Cassel today, but the Chiefs may have dodged the proverbial bullet on this one if the immediate prognosis turns out to be accurate. X-rays conducted on Saturday night revealed no broken bones.  Source: nationalfootballpost.com
