Hightower is Cardinals’ No. 1 running back, so far
6/2/2010 9:19:00 AM

One constant for the Cardinals this off-season, however, has been Tim Hightower as the No. 1 running back. Hightower started all last season over Beanie Wells, although Wells became the team’s primary ball carrier in the latter half of the season. Coach Ken Whisenhunt isn’t committing to a rotation right now. “This is a whole new season,” Whisenhunt said. “We’ve got a lot of time before we have to make any decisions with that. Both guys are good football players.”   Source: azcentral.com

Tim Hightower (Thumb) was a limited participant @Friday's practice and is listed as Questionable heading into week 13. Hightower faces a terrible match up vs. the Minnesota Vikings. The Vikings are currently ranked 2nd best defending the run and are on average giving up 81.6 yards per game. They have only surrendered 3 rushing TDs in the 11 games they have played this year and they also rank 32nd (Dead Last) in allowing fantasy points to opposing RB's.

Hightower has new attitude in Cards camp
8/12/2009 11:21:00 AM

Whether he's still peeved or not about the selection of Wells, Hightower has shown teammates and coaches a different look in training camp this year. He's meaner, quicker and has a different attitude. "I've only seen him in two camps but I think he's come in with a whole different mindset," quarterback Kurt Warner said. "I don't know if that had anything to do with us drafting Beanie or not. "I mean, it's his second year, he's grown up, he understand the position and I think he came in with the understanding he was going to be the guy, that with Edge not there, he was going to be the No.1 back."  Source: azcentral.com

Hightower may have the early leg up?
7/23/2009 6:25:00 PM

He (Tim Hightower) has good quickness and speed. He's physical, bright and has a desire to be good. But he needs to prove he's more than a situational back. The Cardinals obviously know that, drafting Wells with the 31st overall pick. Wells, however, needs to prove he can pick up blitzes and catch the ball. Those are Hightower's advantages in the competition. My guess is that Hightower is the starter when the season begins, with Wells possibly taking over later in the year, if he deserves it.  Source: Kent Somers - azcentral.com

Hightower to open the season as the starter
6/20/2009 10:48:00 AM

RB – Tim Hightower. Yes, Beanie Wells is the No. 1 pick. Yes, Beanie is assumed to be the starter at some point. But I don’t see Wells being handed anything. Hightower is determined to hold on to the starting role. And as for No. 1 picks, after watching DRC’s situation last year, I am guessing Wells will get the go-slow treatment too, especially after missing all the OTAs.  Source: azcardinals.com
