Whisenhunt not ruling out Wells as starter 9/2/2009 10:40:00 AM
Whisenhunt has been thoroughly pleased with Hightower, but now that (Chris "Beanie") Wells appears healthy - and Wells said he was less than 100 percent against the Packers - there's no telling how the carries will be distributed for a team that last season, ranked last in the NFL in rushing. "I would never rule it out," Whisenhunt said of Wells becoming the starter, "because you never know what can happen."

Wells seemed no worse after tweaking ankle 8/19/2009 5:02:00 PM
Coach Ken Whisenhunt said Beanie Wells seemed no worse for wear after tweaking his ankle sprain last night and that soreness and playing through it is just part of the healing process. Wells will still practice this afternoon, get some reps, and the Cards will monitor his situation. Playing Saturday remains an option, but it's not like Whisenhunt thinks it is the end of the world if Wells can't go.

Cards RB Beanie Wells twists sore ankle 8/19/2009 9:15:00 AM
The Cardinals had a Wednesday night practice at Lumberjack Stadium, and rookie running back Beanie Wells "twisted" his sore ankle a bit on a running play.nWells was stopped in the backfield by defensive tackle Darnell Dockett and aggravated his sprained ankle when he tried to make a move to get away. On the next play, Wells tried to run a pass route into the flat but stopped after only a couple of steps. I didn't see him take another snap. After practice, Wells said he was "fine" and that he just twisted the ankle on the run play.

Cards RB Beanie Wells' has durability questioned 8/3/2009 8:11:00 AM
There were questions about running back Beanie Wells' durability at Ohio State, a major reason he lasted until the Cardinals took him with the 31st pick in the draft in April. Fair or not, the right ankle injury suffered by Wells in his first practice Saturday at training camp only strengthens the concern. Wells is expected to miss at least a few days of practice this week after suffering the injury during a running play Saturday. "I'm definitely disappointed about it," said Wells, who had a foot injury last season in college. "I've been going through the injury thing quite awhile now, and (Saturday) was just a fluke. "I don't think an ankle sprain is nothing too major. If I get on top of it, I think it will go away quickly."

Cards haven't signed Beanie Wells 7/21/2009 9:17:00 AM
Cardinals negotiations with the agents for running back Beanie Wells, the 31st overall pick, and outside linebacker Cody Brown, the second rounder, will intensify over the next week. Players are due to report to training camp in Flagstaff on July 29. Wells' agent, Adam Heller, did not return a phone call. Brown's agent, Nate Haber, said he is in the midst of negotiations with the Cardinals. "I don't foresee too big of a problem," Haber said. Asked if that meant Brown would be signed by the start of camp, Heber declined to say. "I don't want to put a timetable on it," he said.
