Panthers RB DeAngelo Williams had surgery Monday to address the foot/ankle problems that sidelined him for the last two games of the season, The Herald in Rock Hill, S.C., reported.
Herald beat writer Darin Gantt noted that Williams played in the Pro Bowl, so the injuries likely weren’t all that serious. Dr. Robert Anderson, a foot and ankle specialist who’s the Panthers’ team doctor, performed the procedure.

Panthers RB Williams injures ankle

Panthers running back DeAngelo Williams left the game at the end of the first quarter with what appeared to be an ankle injury. He was examined on the field and had the ankle taped by the team's medical staff. Williams' return to the game is questionable.

Running back DeAngelo Williams, who missed Wednesday’s practice with a sore knee, was back Thursday. He wore a sleeve on his right knee but didn’t appear to be limping. Coach John Fox didn’t say whether Williams would play Saturday.
